Day in the Life with the Brown Family

I had the honor of taking photos of a wonderfully close family a few months ago. I met Teresa at my children's school where she works in Educational Support. She is such a caring and warm person that it wasn't a surprise when I saw that her girls were exactly the same way.

Her oldest has been in karate since she was young. A black belt, she now teaches the martial art to students at the Folsom Karate Academy. Her youngest is an athletic young women who plays on the school basketball team; I was pleasantly surprise to find out that she is also a baker! She made a Cherry/Raspberry buckle (a recipe which I posted a few days ago) while I was at their home and was kind enough to give me a slice topped with ice cream.

I really enjoyed witnessing the close connection between the two daughters. The oldest painted a henna tattoo on her sister's hand and I was so impressed by her patience and attention to detail.

It warms my heart to photograph families in this style. I love not having to pose them and the smiles are always natural. Although the light can be tricky, the photos I get are worth the risk.
