Child Portraits | Newcastle

I met Ashley during a Harvest Festival Planning meeting back in September. Her family owns land in Newcastle - beautiful property with a creek and lots of trees and places to explore. While I have never visited this area before, her description of it reminded me of the Shire from Lord of the Rings (I am a big LOTR fan - in fact I am watching Fellowship of the Ring, the extended version right now...and I secretly wish I was an elf). Anyway, my favorite subjects to photograph are children and she has three under the age of 8. I visited them this week and had a lot of fun photographing them while they showed me around their property. I really enjoyed creating these whimsical child portraits of her kids. Below are some sneak peeks of our afternoon.

Full disclosure, I added some overlays to a few of these photos: Kimla Designs for the grass, a few color overlays from Jessica Drossin, and stock photos for the flares. It was so much fun playing with the images...not sure if I went too far with a few, but the artist in me could not be contained. Plus, my very artistic daughter gave me a thumbs up for them, so that counts for something, doesn't it??
