Sundays at the Carmichael Farmer's Market

The Carmichael Farmer’s Market has grown since I started going there a couple of years ago. It is held at Carmichael Park every Sunday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. It is down the street from a few thrift stores and the Effie Yeaw Nature Center.

This medium sized outdoor market includes crafters, fair trade vendors, food vendors, live musicians, as well as farmers that sell what they grow. Dogs are welcome and it’s fun to see kids walking around with the balloon artist’s creations.

Two of my friends are vendors. Tina owns the Basket Bungalow and she sells Bolga Baskets with her son. He was there selling fidget spinners, the newest toy craze. Eowyn owns the Skirt Shack and she sells fair trade clothing and crafts from Nepal. I love the colors and patterns in the clothing she sells! I met both of them at Golden Valley Charter School where my daughter graduated from last year. Tina's son was one of my son's classmates last school year. They sell at other markets too, and as they come up, I’ll make a mention =)

The Carmichael Farmer’s Market is not as large as the one under the freeway but I really enjoy walking around its park setting. Its proximity to the neighborhood shops and restaurants make it the perfect stop on the way home from a weekend lunchdate. My son attended the Fencing School across the street; had the market occurred on Saturdays, I would have done some of my grocery shopping here every week!
