Around Our Clocks 1:00

Welcome to Around Our Clocks Blog Circle! For this month, we are sharing our 1:00 hour.  My son and I traveled to the Rosicrucian Museum in San Jose as part of his Ancient Civilizations lesson. If you've never been here, I highly recommend it. We started our tour of the museum after lunch. The pictures below reflect what we saw during this month's hour.

There is an interactive map of Ancient Egypt which allowed students to see where the different pyramids and temples are. While we studied these places, it was interesting to see all of them in context.

One of his assignments included choosing his favorite exhibit, which was the Rosetta Stone. He thought that it was interesting because it had three languages on it. It reminded me of the coding toys that he likes to play with, so I am not surprised that it intrigued him.

This display of a pharaoh's residence was built to scale. I wish I had taken pictures of what was included! When I estimated what it would look like if it was life size, I think it would have been at least the size of a modern city block, if not more. Indeed - it would have to be that big to house all of your numerous wives, children, slaves, and livestock.
