I met with Ashley and her family a few weeks ago for her maternity photo session. She requested a natural environment and I was so pleased that she suggested the river! There is a beautiful area by the lake, near her daughter's school (one that my son used to frequent with his class) which has a view of Lake Natoma Crossing. The beach is nice and the water/sky backdrop is absolutely gorgeous. I especially love that the water is relatively shallow, so we were able to go in the water for some shots.
I love the family images of all of them. Ashley and her husband, Owen, celebrated their first anniversary this summer.
Their daughter Aeralin (who they call Az) started the 3rd grade this year. When I sent Ashley her gallery, she said that some of them, like the one of her daughter hugging her belly made her tear up. Looking at her gallery, I can see why. Az is Ashley's first baby. Seeing her hugging her almost born sister brought tears to my eyes too.
My favorite images, though, are the ones where you see who Ashley is: strong, graceful, beautiful, a mother, and woman.
The evening was cloudy, so we did not get the sunset colors. I added them in Photoshop using 2 methods: brushwork and overlays from Jackie Jean Photography.
