The High-Hand Nursery and Cafe is a sweet nursery and cafe in the charming little town of Loomis, CA. I visited their Farmer's Market a few weeks ago. I almost missed it because of the construction going on in front of their main storefront. Their website lists its location in their parking lot. I didn't realize that they parking lot stretched at least a block further away from their nursery.
It is a small market, but it was nice to see the steady stream of people coming to buy the fruit, flowers and other items for sale. They are open this year from May 19 - September 29 every Thursday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
After my purchases of pluots (my mid summer obsession), I returned to the nursery.
It's a wonderland in there, filled with beautiful household plants, flowers, trees for your outdoor garden, a succulent bar, and a cafe next to a wonderful Koi Pond.
The seating area was designed to feel as welcoming as possible, and I may have been tempted to stay there longer if it weren't the middle of the week and I had things to do at home.
I can't say enough great things about this nursery! The only complaint I have is that the cafe was not open when I got there (it opens at 11:00 during the weekdays). I'll definitely come here again, even if I have to make a detour on the way to Nevada City this coming Fall.
