My last post of the year!
I know I've written about Nevada City before. It's an old town in the foothills that has maintained their small town charm despite the growth. They hold their Victorian Christmas every year and it's one that that I enjoy going to because of the decorations. I love seeing the holiday colors and people dressed up in Victorian costumes.
It was lovely weather for this event. The sunny skies belied that fact that it was almost winter. I had to take off my coat, to give you an idea of how unseasonally warm it it. To be honest, I was hoping for colder weather and even hoped for some snowflakes. I lived in the East Coast during my childhood; Christmas events meant cold weather with the possibility of snow. It is one of those brief times that I miss the weather of Pennsylvania.
I enjoyed the music, and was happy to see the carolers again. I love the way they deck themselves out in Victorian Christmas finery. They remind me of A Christmas Carol and what I envisioned that time to look like during the holidays (minus the vendors, etc...you know what I mean ;) ).
Claire Toney is a photographer in Northern CA. She can't name her favorite season because each one has wonderful photographic opportunities.
