Photo Stories | Little Boots
Have you ever seen an image which captivated you for some reason? I have several photographs like this, the first one being the one below.
This was a vintage-styled child model photoshoot. As with most of my child sessions, I brought some photography props to help keep her attention, and her mom bought her a vintage style dress to wear. When asked what shoes she wanted to wear, she chose her boots (I love a girl with her own style!).
She walked around the location, getting comfortable before I brought out my camera and props. I noticed the light behind her while she walked across the bridge. As quietly as I could, so that she wouldn't notice me, I crouched down & took the shot. I wanted to make sure that I photographed her boots & her dress; I also wanted to capture her innocence as she walked, oblivious to her surroundings.
For this re-edit, I wanted to bring out the sun that was behind her, as well as deepen the green and golden colors in the emvironment. I used several textures from 2 Lil Owls as well as some actions from Jessica Drossin to help bring out my vision.
Perhaps I love this candid child portrait because it speaks to me of her individuality, personality, fearlessness, and innocence - things that all children have the right to have. Or perhaps I love it because of the light behind her, or even because of the endless rows of tree. I don't know. The only thing I do know is that it's still one of my favorites and I hope you enjoy it too.
